Give over

"... my feeling of late is that while I have been attending to things as best I can, the doing has been accompanied by the sense that these things are a chore and are taking something out of me. With the nice number of hours we are getting to sit during the intensive, feeling my body relax and release tensions, it feels much more like I can just attend to things, be nourished by the attending, and keep moving forward to the next thing. This is how I understand the idea being held by the container of practice."

- Shundo, at The Ino's Blog

One of the reasons I took Jukai was to help me bring my practice off the cushion. It's difficult living an 'ordinary' life and carrying my practice along with me. It's far less work to allow my ordinary life to be held by my practice. I just forget that sometimes.

I edited the most recent edition of SZC's Mind Moon Circle. It's customary for the editor to write a piece too, so I did. The topic was Jukai and the precepts. If you're interested you can download it here (18.8MB PDF).
